Game of Thrones Cast – Season 2

To the delight of many a fan, Game of Thrones returns to HBO in the Spring of 2012 for its second season (where winter will still be coming to Westeros). We have some returning cast members, some dearly departed characters who sadly will not, and more importantly we get to meet some all new characters (and the actors they will play).

I will keep a running tally on the current state of casting here for all to enjoy, updating as frequently as the news comes in (or as close as I can get).

i loved drogo i wish they would make it seem like his wife was dreaming and bring him back it would be interesting to see him carry out his plans as he said in that great speech he gave and let he and his queen rule the dragons and possibly the throne

I thought Elyes Gabel was Rakharo, not Jhogo. Also, the actress playing Old Nan has died, so she won’t be returning. The characters of Ser Hugh of the Vale and Ser Vardis Egen are dead, and won’t be returning, and Benjen is probably dead too – certainly the actor won’t be returning in Season 2.

Thanks for these notes, changes made. And YES, you’re right about Gabel playing Rahkaro. He was originally cast as Jhogo then it changed after filming began. Good catch!

So excited for season 2! Reading book 3 now and I can’t put it down. @lenner don’t count on seeing Drogo again but the good thing about George RR Martin’s writing is, for every amazing character that dies, 2 more seem to show up!

I love George Martin’s books and the tv series certainly lives up to them. The cast have been chosen to perfection (shame that Sean Bean as Ned had to go) and do great justice to the characters. I can’t wait for Season 2 and know it will be as good if not better than the first.

I really hope they cast Dame Judy Dench as Queen of Thorns in the third series. She would be so perfect for that role.

You’re missing Oona Chaplin on the list.
